Pros React To Maddalena Beating Belal – ‘Insane, Bravo'

Jack Della Maddalena defeated Belal Muhammad at UFC 315, as MMA pros reacted to the result. 

Belal failed in the first defense of his belt after having secured it against Leon Edwards at UFC 304. The result has damaged his plans to chase a title in a second weight class amid suggestions he could have moved up to middleweight. While he could still do so, he is unlikely to get a title shot immediately against the current champion, Dricus Du Plessis.

The statistics of the fight produced a telling narrative. Belal landed 132 significant strikes from 318 attempts. That was at a  41% accuracy rate. He also had three takedowns from 9. Meanwhile, Maddalena connected with 178 significant strikes from 342 attempts. That was a 52% accuracy rate. He had no takedown attempts, but was successful in preventing Belal from using his wrestling. Jack landed 113 strikes to the head, as MMA insiders had plenty to say about the result.
