James Wright
Senior Boxing Writer ·

Kristian Prenga believes Anthony Joshua's recent personal loss will affect the British heavyweight when they meet, giving the Albanian an edge in their upcoming clash.

“I feel sorry for him and for his team but it's definitely going to affect him. I think it's an advantage for me.”

What Kristian Prenga said

Joshua faces Prenga in the heavyweight division after the Briton suffered a family bereavement in the build-up to fight week. The former unified champion has pressed ahead with training despite the tragedy, but his opponent thinks the emotional toll will show on the night.

What it moves

Prenga made clear he sympathises with Joshua's situation but won't shy away from exploiting any mental distraction in the ring. Speaking to Ring Magazine, he said: "I feel sorry for him and for his team but it's definitely going to affect him. I think it's an advantage for me." The Albanian now believes the circumstances tilt the fight in his favour.
