Katie Taylor eyes Croke Park farewell after talks with promoter

Katie Taylor has told BBC Sport she wants a retirement fight at Croke Park after discussing her future with her promoter. The Irish champion said the Dublin venue is the only goal left in her career.

“I had a conversation with Eddie [Hearn, promoter] after the last fight and I said, 'what else is there to chase other than Croke Park?'”

What Katie Taylor said

Taylor has headlined arenas across the world since turning professional in 2016, but has never fought at home in Ireland. Croke Park, Dublin's GAA stadium, holds over 80,000 and would mark the biggest bout of her career. Taylor is a two-weight world champion and undisputed lightweight titleholder.

What it moves

The statement puts pressure on matchmakers to deliver a Croke Park date in 2025. Taylor did not name an opponent or confirm talks with GAA officials about stadium availability. If the bout goes ahead, it would be the largest women's boxing event ever staged in Ireland.
