Poirier Returns To UFC Desk After Arrest

Tom Rashid
UFC & MMA Lead Writer ·

Dustin Poirier will return to the UFC broadcast desk this weekend, his first analyst assignment since his June arrest for public intoxication at Atlanta International Airport.

Poirier will join Din Thomas and Alan Jouban on the Paramount+ broadcast team for UFC Vegas 120, per MMA Junkie. The former lightweight title challenger retired after losing to Max Holloway at UFC 318 and now faces up to a year in prison on the misdemeanor charge.

Sponsorship Loss And Broadcasting Future

Bud Light terminated Poirier's contract immediately following his detainment, according to the report. His long-term future with Paramount remains unclear as he works through the legal process.

The broadcast return comes as another UFC analyst, Anthony Smith, was arrested last week in Nebraska on domestic violence charges that carry up to 20 years if convicted. Paramount could weigh disciplinary action for Poirier depending on the outcome of his court case.

Saturday's card at the Apex is headlined by lightweights Mateusz Gamrot and Quillan Salkilld. Poirier will handle mid-event and post-fight desk segments.
