Paddy Pimblett recalls Ferrero Rocher disaster, worst cuts
Paddy Pimblett once ate an entire pack of Ferrero Rocher chocolates on his way to weigh-ins after cutting eight kilograms of water weight.
The UFC lightweight revisited his most disastrous refueling mistakes on his YouTube channel, per Sherdog, starting with the 2016 incident that ended with him vomiting during a post-fight interview at Cage Warriors. After beating Julian Erosa by decision to claim the featherweight title, Pimblett explained the pre-fight error that led to the viral moment.
"When I spewed in the cage, it wasn't because of the refuel; it was just because of being an idiot before I went to the venue," he said. "Before I went to the venue, I went to Starbucks or Costco... I got a hot chocolate, and we went to Tesco, and I got a pack of Ferrero Rocher, and I ate them on the way to the venue, after doing an 8-kilogram water cut, one of the biggest cuts I've ever done."
Full English breakfast before rehydrating for Vargas fight
Pimblett also described his mistake ahead of his UFC London scrap against Rodrigo Vargas, when he ate a full English breakfast before properly rehydrating. According to the story, he had consumed just a liter of water when coach Paul Reed spotted him at the fighter hotel and asked what he was doing. "I was just sitting there like, 'Just having a full English,'" Pimblett recalled. "And he was like, 'What are you doing, you f*cking idiot?'"
The Liverpool native now claims his weight management is dialed in ahead of UFC 329, where he faces Benoit St. Denis in the co-main event. Pimblett said his current cut is tracking even better than the one for his Justin Gaethje fight earlier this year, when he came in underweight. He expects to cut around 10 pounds this time and rehydrate back to 185 before stepping into the cage.
