Paddy Pimblett mocks Dana White and Eddie Hearn feud
Paddy Pimblett has a laugh at the escalating promoter war between Dana White and Eddie Hearn.
The UFC lightweight told iFL TV that the ongoing feud between the combat sports executives is ‘very teenage girlish’ after attending a Matchroom Boxing event in Liverpool last week to support training partner Molly McCann. The bizarre rivalry has intensified since White signed Conor Benn to Zuffa Boxing and Hearn responded by becoming manager for UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall.
Pimblett would back White despite Hearn’s reach advantage
Hearn recently claimed at the Liverpool card that a boxing match between the two would sell over a million pay-per-view buys. White dismissed the idea at UFC Winnipeg on Saturday, calling Hearn “a f*cking bum” who “says a lot of dumb sh*t,” according to MMA Fighting. Pimblett doubts the fight happens but knows where his allegiance lies. “Eddie’s got the reach on him, but Dana’s my boss, I’m backing Dana,” Pimblett said, per Sherdog. “Dana’s going to spark him out.”
The Liverpudlian pointed out the irony that both promoters would earn far more fighting each other than they pay their own athletes. “The funniest thing is if they fought each other, they’d get paid well more than what the fighters getting paid,” Pimblett told iFL TV. “Thirty mil each, no boxers getting that under Eddie Hearn and no UFC fighter’s getting that under Dana.”
Pimblett expects the spat to blow over despite the recent back-and-forth over White’s Zuffa Boxing expansion. “They’re both going to end up being sweet, so we crack on for now,” he said.
