Navajo Stirling Among Four UFC Belgrade POTN Winners
Four fighters pocketed $100,000 performance bonuses at UFC Belgrade on Saturday, led by Navajo Stirling's violent first-round stoppage of former heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz.
Stirling rocked the Polish veteran with a heavy right hand early in the opening round and closed the show with a flurry of punches and elbows, per BJPENN.com. The finish pushed Stirling to 11-0 and landed him in the 205-pound title conversation.
Medic Stops Rodriguez In 30 Seconds
Uros Medic earned a bonus of his own for dismantling Daniel Rodriguez in the main event. Medic connected with a three-punch combination in the opening seconds, followed by a body kick that dropped Rodriguez. Another body kick on the ground preceded the ground-and-pound finish at just 30 seconds, marking Medic's fourth consecutive first-round stoppage.
Gilbert Urbina and Nina Milosevic also collected $100k awards. Urbina stopped Vlasto Cepo in round one, while Milosevic finished Hailey Cowan with a body shot in the first frame.
UFC officials announced the bonuses at the post-fight press conference in Serbia. Stirling's next opponent remains unclear, but his undefeated record and violent finish of a former champion should put him near the front of the line at heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight.
