Mike Perry Makes Nate Diaz Quit

Mike Perry stopped Nate Diaz at the end of the second round, with Diaz's corner throwing in the towel after a doctor's check between rounds.

Diaz worked his jab early, the two clinched, and Perry immediately began landing elbows. Diaz was briefly overwhelmed before landing a throw that momentarily shifted the dynamic, but Perry recovered quickly and ended up on top.

From there he went to the body, landing heavy shots that visibly slowed Diaz as the round wore on. Diaz found something late — landing two or three solid blows with about a minute remaining — but the round belonged to Perry, and the damage was evident.

The second round was worse. Perry doubled up on uppercuts, elbows, and right hands, all connecting with a frequency that left Diaz staggering and retreating. Perry took the back and threatened a standing rear-naked choke before Diaz found space, though the respite was brief.

A knee sent Diaz to the canvas, and Perry dropped an elbow before Diaz attempted an armbar that was never close to being finished. He climbed back to his feet in slow motion as the referee held Perry off, threw a sluggish kick leaning on the fence, and survived to the end of the round — only for the corner to make the call to end the fight.

“Look, I landed really good shots and I was hitting. I was getting a little tired, but I think that’s part of it. He’s the toughest f***ing guy out there, there’s no quit in him. … Blood was spilled,” Perry

“I had blood in my eye, I couldn’t see. … It’s all good. Next time, he ain’t going to be able to do nothing,” Diaz
