Abdullah Mason stopped Albert Bell in the final round Saturday night to keep his WBO lightweight strap.

The lightweight champion struggled early before finishing with a 12th-round TKO, according to ESPN. Mason absorbed pressure through the opening frames, then surged late to halt Bell just before the final bell.

The stoppage came after Mason found his rhythm in the championship rounds. Bell had made the fight competitive through 11, but the champion's power told in the end.

Mason will look to build on the win as he moves forward in a crowded 135-pound division. No next opponent has been named.
