KSI Vs. Fury Does 1.3 Million Pay-Per-View Buys
In the latest boxing news, KSI and Tommy Fury’s bout reportedly sold 1.3 million pay-per-views.
According to Happy Punch, the bout brought in an estimated £26 million in revenue at a pay-per-view price set at $54.99 in the US, while the UK price was set at £19.99.
Despite the anticipation for the fight, the card failed to deliver the fireworks that were being expected. The KSI vs. Tommy Fury bout was overshadowed with the majority-decision win for Fury, as KSI claimed that he had been robbed.
Judge Rafael Ramos’ score of 57-57 should have been 57-56 for Fury after the cards were added up incorrectly. Meanwhile, the Logan Paul vs. Dillon Danis co-main event resulted in the latter being disqualified for attempting MMA moves.
In response, the bouts received a lot of criticism from those connected to the boxing industry. Carl Froch was very vocal about the poor standard he had witnessed with the following comments.
Froch On KSI-Fury
"The fight itself was absolutely f****** diabolical. It was so bad. It was crap. It was probably the worst fight I’ve ever seen. It wasn’t competitive. Neither of them really wanted to throw a punch for fear of getting hit back. I suppose KSI tried a little bit, but I don’t know what he was doing. He was kind of bouncing on the floor, doing star jumps in the middle of the ring in front of Tommy Fury, just waiting and just doing these star jumps, waving his arms around, flapping around like what? It wasn’t boxing.
“It’s cringy to watch. What are these two guys doing? It’s so bad. It’s appalling. Everyone who’s seen it will agree, I think all the response on YouTube comments or on Instagram reels that have gone out, everybody agrees how s*** it was. And then they’ve got the audacity at the end to have an argument, to say ‘Oh look, you’ve got a mark on your face.’ ‘I hit you more than you hit me.’ ‘You were trying to hit me with a jab," Froch stated
Danis’ Role
Ultimately, the fight captivated the attention of many fight fans around the world. And in order to break the million barrier, it was vital that the casual fanbase were exposed to the fight.
That was largely in part due to Danis’ approach to promoting the fight. From the outset, the MMA fighter targeted Paul’s fiancée, Nina Agdal, with his social media posts.
Danis resorted to sharing posts over Agdal’s prior relationships, which suggested that she had a high body count. That resulted in Agdal suing the fighter and requesting a restraining order to prevent him from posting such stuff.
That did play a huge part in the promotion since Danis’ social media following exploded. As of now, the MMA fighter has around one million followers on X, which has been in response to the fight.
And there is no doubt that some of that traffic played a part in the huge pay-per-view numbers that were generated. Find all the latest boxing news and MMA breaking updates on boxingblitz.
