Jordan Burroughs to Face UFC's Sean Brady at RAF 12 in August
Olympic gold medalist Jordan Burroughs will make his Real American Freestyle debut against UFC welterweight Sean Brady on Aug. 22 at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, the promotion confirmed.
The matchup pairs the six-time world champion wrestler against a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt in a catchweight main event at RAF 12. Burroughs, 37, competed at an elite level as recently as two years ago and won gold at the 2012 London Olympics.
Brady Takes Massive Challenge in RAF Debut
Brady holds the No. 5 ranking in the UFC's welterweight division and has won four of his last five Octagon appearances. His most recent outing saw him control Joaquin Buckley for three full rounds at UFC 328 in March.
MMA Mania's Andrew Richardson, a professional fighter at Team Alpha Male, called the bout a lopsided affair. "Barring a freak injury, it's hard to give Brady any chance here," Richardson wrote. "He's a great grappler and has excellent MMA wrestling, but Burroughs is a different animal on the wrestling mat."
RAF 12 takes place one month after RAF Georgia, which features Merab Dvalishvili versus Henry Cejudo on July 11.
