Jon Jones weighed in on Anthony Smith's arrest in Nebraska, where the former heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight title challenger faces three felony domestic violence charges.

Smith, who fought Jones at UFC 235 in March 2019, was arrested Monday and booked on charges stemming from an alleged incident in which he reportedly tried to ram his wife with a car, according to MMA Mania. He was released on $500,000 bond and awaits a court date.

Jones Advises Prayer After Smith Charges

When fans asked Jones about the situation on social media, the heavyweight champion responded with a measured message. "I hope he prays," Jones wrote on X, per MMA Mania. "I know there's no problem too big for Jesus. He can literally change any situation."

Jones, who stopped Smith over five rounds in their title bout seven years ago, also posted Wednesday that he looks "more and more like Gandhi these days," though he did not mention Smith by name in that tweet.

The arrest marks another chapter in an unusual rivalry between the two fighters, who have traded verbal shots since their bout despite Smith refusing a disqualification victory after Jones illegally kneed him while grounded. Smith faces up to 20 years if convicted on the felony charges.
