Jones Reveals Hamilton Called Him Coward Over Pig Hunt

Jon Jones says Formula One legend Lewis Hamilton attacked him in direct messages and blocked him after seeing footage of a helicopter pig hunt in 2021.

The former UFC heavyweight champion told ALF Global League in an interview posted Monday that Hamilton sent him a lengthy message calling him a coward for shooting a pig from a helicopter with an AR-15 during a hunt with Army Rangers. Jones said he had donated the animal to an underprivileged family in the area, but Hamilton — a vegan and outspoken critic of the meat industry — did not see it that way.

What Jones Said Hamilton Wrote

"Lewis saw me shoot the pig from the helicopter, and he wrote me a long message," Jones said, per BJPenn.com. "Saying that I was a coward and that I was better than that. Said that the traditional way of killing an animal should be with a spear or with a bow and an arrow. That only a coward can shoot an animal from a helicopter, and to give the animal the chance to fight me back at least. He unfollowed me, blocked me, and it sucked because I was his fan."

Jones said he was proud of the shot at the time and posted the footage on social media. Hamilton, a seven-time Formula One World Drivers' Championship winner, reportedly took issue with the method and cut off contact with the UFC great.

Jones closed the story with an apology. "Lewis, if you're listening, I'm sorry, man. I'm sorry," he said. Jones and UFC CEO Dana White recently buried their own feud at UFC 329, with Jones calling White a "homie for life" backstage.
