Joe Rogan Slams Cain Velasquez’s Sentence – ‘He Shouldn’t Be In Prison'

Joe Rogan has given his take on Cain Velasquez’s recent five-year sentence.

The former UFC Heavyweight Champion is doing time after his no contest for attempted murder. He was also facing charges that involved assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm from a vehicle. This followed after his 2022 arrest when he fired shots at a vehicle that had Harry Goularte. The latter had reportedly sexually abusex Cain’s son during his time at a daycare that was owned by Goularte’s mother. The bullets struck Goularte’s stepfather, Paul Bender. Paul, however, did not go through any life-threatening injuries.

Velasquez’s attorney has also claimed that the victims are demanding too much money. Meanwhile, the arrest has also raised many talking points, with questions about whether the sentence was appropriate in the circumstances. Rogan made his stance very clear. He felt that Cain should not have been behind bars, as he hoped President Donald Trump would pardon him.

Rogan Reacts

"He did what every father would’ve done, If you’re not a father, you do not understand the murderous rage you would have if some man molested your baby. You don’t understand. You would see red in a way that no one would describe to you unless you’re a parent, that f**king anger. I mean, if there’s ever a plea for temporary insanity, that’s the plea. If there’s ever a person that could justifiably say, ‘I was temporarily insane,’ it’s a father chasing after someone, especially a man that molests your boy. … Everybody understands it.

"He should’ve never gone to jail. He’s not a threat to society, he’s not a danger, he shouldn’t be in prison, and he already did three years. … It’s horrific. I just don’t understand it. I mean, the judge’s hands were tied, he had to make a sentence and I think this is the minimum amount.

"They tried to give him 30 years for attempted murder because he was just shooting at this guy. Obviously, when you’re driving and your shooting, you could miss him and kill a bystander. It’s very dangerous. But also, the guy was in a murderous rage for a good reason, and if he killed that guy, the world would be better off. That’s my feeling," Rogan said

The Future

President Trump is a big supporter of the UFC, having attended numerous events. He is also close with the CEO of the UFC, Dana White. The latter endorsed his presidency, having previously spoken at the RNC on three occasions in 2016, 2020 and 2024. It is not clear if Cain’s case is on President Trump’s radar. However, White’s prior comments show that he was behind Cain.

"Cain Velasquez is a good man. He’s a good person. I’m hoping that the judge that looks at this case says, ‘You know what? This family’s suffered enough.’ “If the kids haven’t suffered enough in this thing – they lost their father for almost a year. So, hopefully, the real justice gets served in this case and Cain Velasquez, who is a good man, a good father, a good husband, gets to be at home with his family," White stated
