Jan Blachowicz rips Jamahal Hill's physique ahead of heavyweight move

Former heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz has criticized Jamahal Hill's physique ahead of Hill's move to heavyweight, attributing the American's weight gain to poor diet rather than injury recovery.

Hill recently announced his jump to the UFC's heavyweight division after undergoing knee surgery that has kept him sidelined until late 2026. Recent training footage shows the former 205-pound champion carrying significantly more mass, drawing sharp commentary from Blachowicz.

Blachowicz blames diet, not surgery, for Hill's bulk

Speaking to Home of Fight, the Polish veteran dismissed the notion that Hill's surgery justified his current condition. "Did you see how fat he is right now? So, I'm not impressed," Blachowicz said, per Sherdog. "I've had a lot of injuries and surgeries, and I've never looked so bad like him, so he just eats a lot of [junk], I think."

Hill captured the heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight title against Glover Teixeira in 2023 but was forced to vacate after tearing his Achilles tendon playing pickup basketball. The 33-year-old has dropped three straight fights since returning and now holds a 12-4 record.

Blachowicz, meanwhile, has gone winless in his last four outings with two draws and two losses since 2022. The former champion was set to rematch Bogdan Guskov at UFC Belgrade on Aug. 1, but Guskov accepted a short-notice fight against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC Abu Dhabi on July 25, leaving Blachowicz without an opponent.
