Homeland Security names alleged UFC White House plot ringleader
Federal authorities arrested a 31-year-old man in Omaha this week for allegedly orchestrating the failed terror plot against UFC Freedom 250 at the White House last weekend.
Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit violence on White House grounds, according to a Homeland Security statement reported by MMA Mania. Alvarez remained in the United States after overstaying a B2 visitor visa, officials said.
Four co-conspirators arrested across three states
Four additional suspects were taken into custody over the weekend across Ohio, Missouri, and California. Among those arrested was 19-year-old Tycen Proper. The FBI coordinated the arrests following intelligence gathered ahead of the White House fight card.
"This illegal alien from Mexico should never have been allowed in our country. He was the ringleader of a failed terror attack targeting UFC Freedom 250 at the White House," Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said in the statement. "He and his co-conspirators now face charges of conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit violence on White House grounds. He will face justice and swiftly be removed from our country."
The event itself proceeded without incident. Joe Rogan later revealed that UFC Freedom 250 drew more than 150 million viewers globally.
