Golden Boy sends cease-and-desist to Zuffa over Ryan Garcia
Golden Boy Promotions has sent a cease-and-desist letter to Zuffa Boxing and parent company TKO Group alleging interference with its contracted fighter Ryan Garcia.
The legal demand, first reported by ESPN, centers on what Golden Boy claims is improper contact regarding a potential matchup between Garcia and Conor Benn. Garcia currently holds a WBC title and remains under promotional contract with Oscar De La Hoya's outfit.
What the cease-and-desist alleges about Zuffa's Garcia outreach
The letter reportedly seeks to halt any direct negotiations between Zuffa representatives and Garcia's team without Golden Boy's involvement. Zuffa Boxing, which launched last year under the TKO umbrella that also owns UFC, has been building a boxing roster and expressed interest in major welterweight matchups.
Neither Zuffa nor Garcia's management have publicly responded to the cease-and-desist. The Garcia-Benn fight has been discussed for months but no formal agreement has been announced.
Golden Boy has not indicated whether it plans further legal action if the alleged interference continues.
