RAF's Georgio Poullas arrested after alleged assault at sister's party
RAF wrestler Georgio Poullas was arrested on aggravated battery charges June 6 after allegedly throwing a man through a glass table at his sister's bachelorette party in Delray Beach, Florida.
Poullas, who has competed against top UFC lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan, was booked into custody at 3:55 a.m. and released on $1,500 bond. The felony charge alleges he intentionally caused great bodily harm, according to MMA Fighting's review of online records.
What the police report says happened
Per the probable cause affidavit first reported by the Boca Daily News, Poullas and his brother Nicholas were allegedly berating their sister — the bride-to-be — when the groom and his brother stepped in. Nicholas Poullas allegedly pushed his sister, prompting the groom's family to intervene. The groom told police Nicholas hit him in the face multiple times, knocked him down, then punched and kicked him repeatedly. The groom described being "curb stomped," according to the report.
When the groom's brother tried to help, police say Georgio Poullas grabbed him and slammed him onto a glass coffee table. Poullas allegedly kept hitting and choking the victim as the fight continued. Both victims were treated for lacerations and other injuries.
After officers arrived at the Airbnb where the party took place, several attendees fled. Police deployed a K-9 unit and found the Poullas brothers hiding in a bush at a nearby home. Georgio was arrested on the felony charge while Nicholas faced a simple battery misdemeanor. Georgio Poullas is scheduled to appear in court July 9.
