Fans React To Eubank Jr. And Benn PPV Price
The Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn PPV price has been announced at $24.99, resulting in a strong reaction.
Eubank faces Benn in their April 26 clash in a fight that has become very personal. The fight was initially set to occur in 2022 after all terms were agreed. Eubank would be coming down to a career-low at 157 pounds, whilst Ben would be moving up from welterweight. The fight was all agreed only for it to be called off once Connor failed a VADA test for Ostarine. He maintained that he was innocent, as he was subsequently suspended by UKAD. An investigation was held, the result of which eventually allowed him to box. However, the exact nature as to why he was cleared has not been made public, something which Eubank took issue with.
Eubank responded by slapping Ben with an egg during their kickoff presser, as the fight became more bitter and intense. Eddie Hearn is on record saying that the fight has already sold a lot of tickets, as it is expected to sell out. There is a narrative in place that the PPV could eclipse 1 million buys, given the rivalry that was initially set up by their fathers. There is also a few question marks over the actual nature of the result.
Eubank is considered the favorite, given that the weight might be an advantage. However, the presence of a rehydration clause means that it could level the playing field. There are also doubts over whether Eubank’s father Chris Eubank Sr. will be present at the fight. Reports indicate that he is not fully supportive of the fight, with suggestions that he considers weight classes exist for a reason. With so many intriguing narratives in place, boxing fans had a strong reaction.
Hearn Reacts
"You’re not talking about two British greats. You grab their sons off the sofa and put them into a Misfit’s fight. These are two world-class fighters in their respective divisions. I just think stylistically, this is a brilliant, intriguing match-up. I think it’ll deliver, and that’s the difference. This isn’t a fight where they’re going to go in and feel each other out. They’re going to try and take each other’s heads off clean. I’ve never seen Conor train like this. He’s in the most incredible shape. One thing about fighters is that if you get yourself in the best condition possible, that’s all you can do.
"The fight is going to be huge. It’s going to do huge pay-per-view numbers, well over a million buys. You know it’s sold over 60,000 tickets already. It’s just a massive fight. Hearn is right. Eubank Jr-Benn will do well in the UK on PPV, but NOT elsewhere. It’s too bad DAZN isn’t making this event for free outside of the UK because it’s not viewed as worthy of ordering on PPV unless a person is from that country.
"You really have to be a big fan of the parents of Benn and Eubank Jr. for anyone to want to order this event. I listen to comments, ‘This is going to be a circus.’ This is a great fight. It’s very difficult to pick a winner in the fight. Most give a slight edge to Eubank because of the size. Others that know Conor better think he stops him. It’s a brilliant fight," Hearn said
