Drake Bets $1 Million On McGregor at UFC 329
Ahead of UFC 329, Drake posted a $1 million bet on Conor McGregor against Max Holloway.
"THE MAC IS BACK?!?! The proper twelve drinking, tailored suit wearing, Lambo Yacht riding man with the Dubai tan that once had both belts in both hands… Say less,” Drake
Drake's track record as a bettor on high-profile fights has been well documented and not particularly flattering. He has lost millions on wagers in recent years, including a bet on Francis Ngannou to defeat Anthony Joshua in their 2023 boxing match — a fight Joshua won comfortably. The pattern of losses has given rise to the "Drake curse," a superstition among combat sports fans that a public Drake endorsement is a reliable indicator of the opposite outcome.
McGregor enters UFC 329 as the underdog against Holloway, which means Drake is betting against the odds as well as against recent personal form. Whether that combination concerns him is not evident from the post.
McGregor (22-6) has not competed since July 2021, when he broke his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Holloway (27-9) has been one of the sport's most active and accomplished fighters in the years since.
If Holloway wins, the Drake curse narrative writes itself. If McGregor wins, Drake collects seven figures and the curse is officially declared broken — until the next high-profile fight, at which point the cycle begins again.
