Davis And Haney Trade Verbal Shots On Social Media – ‘I’ve Been Calling That Dude Out For Years'
Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney once again traded verbal shots at each other on social media as they continue to be linked with a fight.
The talk turned towards the Davis-Haney fight following The Dream’s win over Regis Prograis to become a two-division champion. But Haney’s poor PPV sales for the Prograis fight, which allegedly did 50,000 buys, meant Haney was not seen as the A-side, creating a stumbling block in negotiations. Haney also rehydrated 165 pounds for the Prograis bout on fight night when he weighed in 140 pounds.
Since Davis fights at 135 pounds, there were suggestions he would not take the fight unless there was a rehydration clause. Haney continues to stress that he will not move to 135 nor accept such a clause. That has created a deadlock, with both fighters blaming each other for the bout not happening. It all came to a head when Shawn Porter suggested none of them wanted the fight.
Davis Vs. Haney
“I was goin through my own shit lol but that’s neither here nor there. I’m on record for saying the fight doesn’t happen and why. I do my best to keep 100 w/out completely exposing the business. Quiet as it’s kept neither one of y’all want the fight right now,” Shaw Porter said
“I’ve been calling that dude out for years..he only say something when I got a fight but now I don’t.. we can fight now wherever he chooses! He said we don’t know how to get in contact with him well have your people reach out Gervonta,” Haney stated
Now, ask Shawn this question.if I beat his ass in the gym and he was over 147lbs..why tf would I be scared to fight a mf w just a nose..shit not adding up,” Davis revealed

Will It Happen?
Nevertheless, there is hope that the fight will happen. According to reports, Turki Alalshikh is keen on having Davis vs Haney in 2024. The Kingdom can produce the biggest fights, having already agreed to Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou. That has also been followed up by reports that Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol is possible. The Saudis can directly pay fighters what they want without considering purse splits.
That removes any issues over who is the A-side and any potential network issues. It also removes any excuses coming from both sides that they do not want to face each other. Since they are both undefeated, the narrative is in place for a mega fight. They also happen to be Muslim, which adds another reason why both fighters may want to fight in the Kingdom. By the looks of it, Turki Alalshikh is ready to deliver the fight.
“I want him [Gervonta Davis], and I send a message now to Al Haymon. Let’s do the job, brother. I want to see Haney in my country. I will try to do it in 2024.”
