Dana White: No fighter will match Conor McGregor's superstar status

UFC president Dana White believes Conor McGregor's combination of fame and fight career success cannot be replicated, calling the Irish striker a singular phenomenon in mixed martial arts history.

White told The Pivot podcast that McGregor's impact stretched beyond the octagon, describing him as revolutionary across the sports world rather than just within the UFC. When asked about the next fighter who might reach similar heights, White dismissed the premise outright.

McGregor's legacy as simultaneous two-division champion

"There's never going to be another Conor McGregor," White said, per MMA Fighting. "In the time, in the place and the way he came into the sport, there will be a different superstar but there will never be another Conor."

McGregor became the promotion's first simultaneous two-division champion and set records for live gates and pay-per-view buys during his peak years. His recent return at UFC 329 drew strong Paramount+ numbers despite ending after just 69 seconds when he suffered a severe knee injury in the opening round.

The former featherweight and lightweight titleholder is preparing for knee surgery with plans to return as early as next summer. He has one fight remaining on his current UFC deal, which would make him the most valuable free agent in MMA history once fulfilled.
