Cormier Scolds Corner During UFC Vegas 120 Broadcast

Daniel Cormier called out a fighter's corner during the UFC Vegas 120 broadcast after Billy Ray Goff was stopped 15 seconds into the third round despite an apparent broken orbital bone.

Goff's right eye had swollen shut during his bout with Ty Miller on the Meta Apex card. His corner sent him out for the final round anyway, prompting the former two-division champion to question the decision on air. "You could see his orbital bone is broken — look at his eye," Cormier said, per MMA Junkie. "Look at his right eye. And then when he got hit on the right eye he went down. The coach told him, 'Don't engage, just circle' and essentially run. Why not just stop the fight? The writing was on the wall, especially if that's the advice you're giving your guy going into the third round."

Miller Expected Fight To End Before Third Round

Miller told reporters afterward that he thought Goff would stay on his stool. The 26-year-old refocused when the bell rang and finished the sequence moments later. The stoppage pushed Miller to 8-0, 1 NC in his professional career with four finishes.

Goff has now dropped three of four under the UFC banner and has been finished in back-to-back outings. His last win came in 2023. He was submitted by Ramiz Brahimaj via guillotine choke in his previous outing before taking the Miller fight.

UFC Vegas 120 was headlined by Quillan Salkilld's submission victory over Mateusz Gamrot. Miller and Goff opened the main card before the lightweight headliner closed the show.
