CompuBox Numbers: Eubank Dominated Benn

Chris Eubank Jr. defeated Conor Benn on a memorable night of British boxing, as we look at the underlying numbers in the fight.

Eubank secured a unanimous decision win to defy the doubts before the fight. Eubank failed to make the 160-pound weight limit, suggesting that he had a very difficult weight cut. He also had to stick by a ten-pound rehydration clause. During the early parts of the fight, Eubank looked slower than usual, hinting that he was weight-drained. While that was the case, he doubled down on his belief by trading with Benn to secure a memorable win.

The CompuBox number showed that too. Eubank Jr. landed with 367 punches from 912 punches, which amounted to a 40.2% accuracy rate. Meanwhile, Benn connected with 215 from 593 thrown, which was equivalent to a 36.3% accuracy. Eubank Jr. was also the better fighter with his jab. He connected with 140 from 350 thrown, which was a 40% accuracy rate.

Benn, in contrast, connected with just 35 from 137, which was equivalent to a 25.5% accuracy rate. Eubank also excelled in the power punches department. He landed 227 from 562 power shots (40.4%). In contrast, Benn only connected with 180 out of 456 (39.5%). That shut down the narrative that the fight was closer than the 116-112 scorecards that were across the board.
