Canelo Outclasses Charlo To Remain Undisputed At 168

In some recent boxing news, Canelo Alvarez outclassed Jermell Charloin a one-sided fight to remain the undisputed super middleweight champion.
Right from the off, the plan of action was clear from both fighters. Charlo’s aim was to disrupt Canelo’s rhythm by staying on the outside with his jab. Meanwhile, Alvarez sought to close the distance in his attempt to attack Charlo’s body.
Canelo Dominates
And that is how things would play out. Canelo was on the front foot as he landed frequently with hooks to Charlo’s body. The American already found himself on the ropes in the first few rounds as he had no answer to keep Canelo at bay.
When Charlo did find some moments of success, his power failed to trouble Canelo at all. During the fifth round, the American landed with a left hook on Alvarez’s head, which the Mexican shook off.
And that was telling during the second half of the fight. Canelo continued to come forward and made Charlo pay in the seventh round.

A right hand landed, which stunned Charlo, as the Mexican followed things up with an uppercut to the chin. Charlo went down, but he took his time before getting up to preserve his energy.
Although the American managed to survive the round, it did nothing to stop the inevitable. Despite Charlo’s trainer, Derrick James, insisting that his fighter went for broke in the latter rounds, the American had nothing to offer.
Alvarez was given the decision on the cards as follows: 119-108, 118-109, 118-109. Moving forward, the talk will turn to whether Canelo does fight David Benavidez. Meanwhile, Charlo’s intention was to face Terence Crawford at 154 pounds.

"Round 12 = more of the same. CANELO, because he was bigger, stronger and more powerful, wins easily. But Charlo has nothing to be ashamed off. Fought a damn good fight, but just didn’t have the strength to keep CANELO honest. Only landed 18% of his punches," Stephen A. Smith said
"Charlo hasn’t made a committed effort to try to win this fight all night. He showed up for a check and is fighting like a guy more focused on not getting hurt than he is to win #canelocharlo," Paul Malignaggi stated
"Charlo, a junior middleweight, is in there with a guy who has fought at 175 pounds. The power is so different. Canelo eating these punches like nothing. Charlo is doing his best. He’s just in there with a monster. I mean, look at Canelo’s back. That dude was born to punch folks," Myron Medcalf revealed
"Canelo constantly leaning on Charlo’s neck will over time take away Charlo’s legs. Pay attention… he’s trying to slow him down to keep him in one spot," Jamel Herring said
