Alex Pereira Wins Forrest Griffin Award; Demetrious Johnson Enters UFC Hall of Fame
Former two-division UFC champion Alex Pereira has been named the 2026 recipient of the Forrest Griffin Community Award for his volunteer and charity work, the promotion announced. Pereira, who holds titles at middleweight and heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight, earned the recognition for his contributions outside the cage.
In parallel, Demetrious Johnson has been inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame's Modern Wing as part of the Class of 2026. Johnson, the former flyweight champion, was recognized for building the UFC's 125-pound division into a legitimate attraction during his historic title reign.
Pereira's Community Work and Johnson's Flyweight Legacy
The Forrest Griffin Community Award, part of the UFC Hall of Fame's Contributor Wing, honors figures whose impact extends beyond competition. Pereira joins previous recipients who have used their platform for charitable causes.
Johnson's induction places him among Modern Era greats who debuted on or after November 17, 2000. His record-setting flyweight title defenses and technical dominance cemented his status as one of the sport's most skilled competitors.
The UFC Hall of Fame, established in 2003, separates honorees into four wings covering pioneer and modern fighters, memorable bouts, and non-competitor contributors. The 2026 class will be formally enshrined at a ceremony tied to International Fight Week in Las Vegas this July.
