Alex Pereira told to stop complaining about Ciryl Gane loss
Alex Pereira needs to move on from his UFC White House loss to Ciryl Gane, according to Michael Bisping.
The UFC Hall of Famer told his YouTube audience that Pereira's repeated objections to the second-round stoppage — centered on what the Brazilian believes were illegal strikes to the back of his head — have become counterproductive. "Listen, he lost the fight, there's no shame in that whatsoever," Bisping said, per MMA Mania. "But sitting there, complaining and crying about it, and going on about how he was fouled, it's just not a good look."
Pereira disputes Gane was gassing out
Pereira has targeted both referee Herb Dean and Gane in social media posts since the June 14 fight, insisting the finishing sequence included fouls that should have been called. Bisping pushed back on Pereira's suggestion that Gane was tired after the stoppage, noting that lying on the canvas is a normal response once the pressure of a fight ends. "I've lain on the floor after many of my fights, because it's done," Bisping said. "All of the pressure, training that you've done leading into this moment. It was all worthwhile."
On Thursday, Pereira posted a skit about rabbit punches and questionable officiating, making clear he has not shifted his stance. The loss ended his bid to capture a third UFC title across different weight classes.
Bisping acknowledged that strikes to the back of the head carry real danger, but maintained that Pereira was beaten fairly. The former middleweight champion said someone in Pereira's camp should pull him aside and tell him to accept the result. Pereira has not announced his next move.
