Alberto Montes hospitalized after brutal UFC Oklahoma City KO loss

Alberto Montes was transported to a local hospital following his technical knockout loss to Tommy McMillen at UFC Oklahoma City on Saturday night.

UFC officials confirmed to MMA Mania that Montes underwent a precautionary CT scan of his head, face and nose after the brutal stoppage in the main card opener at Paycom Center. The 32-year-old Venezuelan had his four-fight win streak snapped in the defeat, which marked his first loss inside the Octagon.

Montes' unbeaten UFC run ends in Oklahoma

Montes entered the bout riding momentum from a highlight-reel submission win over Ricky Turcios at UFC 326 earlier this year, where he forced a rare standing choke finish in his promotional debut. That performance put the featherweight on notice as a potential contender, but McMillen derailed those plans with a finish that earned him a $50,000 bonus.

The promotion has not released results from Montes' hospital scans. UFC routinely sends fighters for precautionary evaluation after knockouts or particularly damaging fights, regardless of whether visible injuries are present.

Montes drops to 11-2 overall and will likely face an extended medical suspension before returning to training.
