Adrian Yanez stops Cody Garbrandt with brutal hooks at UFC 329
Adrian Yanez stopped former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt with a vicious combination Saturday night at UFC 329 inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Garbrandt opened fast, according to MMA Mania, landing early in a sequence that briefly put Yanez on the back foot. But after the initial exchange, Yanez settled into his rhythm and began timing counters. Midway through the opening frame, Garbrandt rushed forward behind his right hand and walked straight into a shifting southpaw check hook — the same punch TJ Dillashaw caught him with years earlier. Stunned, Garbrandt ate two more crushing hooks that sent him crashing to the canvas.
Yanez's resurgence at bantamweight
The win moves Yanez to 2-1-1 over his last four outings, though observers have argued he deserved victories in at least two of those non-wins with sharper officiating. After a rough 2023 that saw back-to-back losses, Yanez has regained the form that made him a prospect to watch early in his UFC run. Garbrandt, meanwhile, absorbs another knockout loss in a career increasingly defined by his inability to avoid big counters.
UFC 329 streamed live on Paramount Plus. No word yet on Yanez's next booking or whether Garbrandt will reassess his place in the division.
