New Lawsuit Accuses Conor McGregor Of Sexual Assault

Conor McGregor has been issued with a lawsuit by a woman who has accused him of sexually assaulting her in the aftermath of a 2023 NBA Finals game.
This is the second time in recent memory that McGregor has faced a lawsuit on such grounds. Nikita Hand first issued a civil sexual assault lawsuit, alleging that he sexually assaulted her in 2018 in a Dublin hotel room. While McGregor denied the allegations, he was found liable. The jury ordered him to pay her legal costs and damages.
The Notorious has said he will appeal the decision. But the damage has already been done. Several brands no longer work with him. The Proper No. 12 Irish Whiskey brand have said they are not using McGregor for their marketing. Airports in Cork and Dublin will not stock his drinks. Meanwhile, the Hitman video game franchise has cut ties with him. Things have now gotten worse.
The new lawsuit was issued on January 14. It claims Conor sexually assaulted her in a bathroom once the Miami Heat’s NBA Finals series game against the Denver Nuggets was over. The incident was said to have happened on June 9, 2023. The plaintiff argues that the staff and security working at the Kaseya Center are responsible for gross negligence. The plaintiff is a vice president on Wall Street, working at a “high-profile financial institution.” The woman filed a criminal sexual assault allegation 48 hours after the incident. However, the authorities did not find McGregor liable.
“After a thorough investigation at the time, the State’s Attorney concluded that there was no case to pursue. Almost two years and at least three lawyers later the plaintiff has a new false story. We are confident that this case too will be dismissed,” Barbara Llanes (McGregor’s attorney) said
McGregor’s Issue
However, the lawsuit will take some time to resolve. The plaintiff wants medical costs, compensatory damages and other damages. It is alleged that she wants damages exceeding $75,000. McGregor’s damages for the Hand case were around $258,000, while the legal costs were roughly $158,000. These lawsuits have the potential to open up the floodgates, encouraging more people to come forward if they have cases against McGregor. That will damage McGregor’s brand further unless he proves defends himself successfully.
“The special treatment of [McGregor] by allowing him to pour his own alcoholic drinks as well as the failure to cut [McGregor]’s access to alcoholic beverages off after he was overserved demonstrates a conscious disregard for the safety patrons similarly situated to and including [the plaintiff],” the lawsuit
“After the Miami-Dade County Prosecutor’s office elected not to pursue criminal charges, a civil case is the only avenue that my client has to seek justice in this case. My client has thought long and hard about the decision to pursue this civil case, and is fearful of the effect it may have on her job on Wall Street,” James Dunn (Plaintiff’s attorney)
