Nate Diaz Rules Out MMA Fight With Jake Paul
November 15, 2023
In the latest MMA news, Nate Diaz has ruled out facing Jake Paul in MMA following their recent boxing bout.
The Problem Child beat Diaz via a unanimous decision on August 5th, 2023, via a unanimous decision. In the aftermath of that process, Paul promised to run things back in MMA given that Diaz had crossed over.
The former made a $10 million offer in order to make it happen. The condition included that Diaz must fight under the PFL banner, having not fought in the UFC in 2022.
Although that may have been the case, Diaz denied refused to take that on board. Instead, the fighter was attempting to have a boxing rematch before even considering an MMA fight.
That did not sit very well with Paul, who ruled out doing such a thing, despite the fact that he is expected to have a fight on December 15th, 2023.
Paul Vs. Diaz
“For the record: Jake Paul will not be boxing Nate Diaz again. Nate Diaz and Jake Paul have received an offer from @PFLMMA to rematch in MMA in the SmartCage. Jake Paul has accepted the offer,” Most Valuable Promotions
In response, this is what Diaz had to say.
“Im good I’d rather fight real fighters. And never back track to the minor leagues pussyFL. Fight urself dipshit,” Diaz
The reluctance to fight was also picked up by PFL founder Donn Davis. The former claimed that an offer had indeed been made, but Diaz did not seem receptive to it.
This may have been due to the fact that Diaz has expressed his desire to return to the UFC moving forward. And given that this intention has been made clear, that could be the reason to not fight under the PFL.
After all, the latter organization is a serious competitor to the UFC having recently gotten over 100 million in investment from the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund through SRJ Sports Investment.
And given that Davis has expressed his desire to create a champion league within MMA, the following comments about Diaz were clear.
Davis On Diaz
“If we could ever put together Jake vs. Nate, if Nate would stop weaseling out and complaining about that MMA fight with Jake. Something like that to put the mind of Jake Paul creatively, against the technology available, wow! It’s not just the spectacle of the circle…I respect Nate, he’s a man’s man, he said I’ll do it in the PFL SmartCage, and now he’s hiding behind a rock… $10-15 million, biggest payday of his life. He gets beat by Jake, and [now] he’s hiding behind a rock,” Davis stated
Regardless of what happens moving forward, the first fight between the pair manage to generate a lot of interest. And given that it had allegedly brought in over 400,000 PPVs that cannot be downplayed.
But whether that leads to a boxing or MMA rematch is anyone’s guess. We will have to see how it all plays out moving forward. Find all the latest boxing news and MMA breaking updates on boxingblitz.
