In today’s boxing news, Nate Diaz has claimed that he will be having a rematch with Jake Paul in December.
The news comes after Paul recently confirmed that he would be fighting on December 15th, 2023. However, an opponent had not been confirmed, which is why Diaz’s revelations were telling.
In their first bout on August 5th, 2023, Paul won via a unanimous decision. Despite this being the case, Diaz was dropped in the fifth round. However, the MMA fighter managed to last the distance on his boxing debut.
In the aftermath of the fight, Paul offered to run things back in MMA provided that Diaz accepted a $10 million offer to fight in the PFL. While that offer has not been taken up, Diaz appears intent on running things back in boxing first.
Diaz On Paul
“8 fights in the boxing game and I’m already its biggest name. I’ve proved that I can headline the biggest global events and defy the odds. PPV after PPV after PPV, and I’m just getting started. My mission is to be a world champion and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get there. December 15th is the next step on my journey, and I promise you’re not going to want to miss it. Rematch wit this scared b***h,” Diaz said
Meanwhile, Logan Paul has rejected an MMA rematch with Dillon Danis following their boxing bout.
The two fighters faced off on October 14th, 2023, in a fight that offered very little by way of boxing skills. Despite Paul dominating the fight, Danis never looked rocked at any moment.
In fact, the latter appeared keen on making it to the final bell after only throwing 16 punches. During the latter parts of the fight, however, Danis was disqualified for attempting MMA moves.
A takedown and a guillotine choke attempt failed. However, it was enough for the referee to call off the fight as a brawl emerged.
In the aftermath, Danis called on Paul to honor his agreement that he would fight him in MMA if he turned up for their boxing fight. Although Danis did turn up on fight night, Paul has now reneged on his promise.
Paul On Danis
“We’ll see, but he doesn’t deserve the platform. We saw the kind of person he is. I walked into the arena to boos, I left to cheers, nobody likes that dirty fighting s*it. You came to box, respect the sport, respect me as an opponent. Back up your words, are you a man?”
“You can’t talk that much s*it for three months. You can’t try to ruin someone’s life and come in there with that kind of performance… Who would hire this guy to fight? He sucks, he literally sucks,” Paul stated
Given the bad blood that has emerged, with Danis targeting Paul’s fiancée, Nina Agdal, the incentive on Paul to run things back is slim, given the way the boxer overcame Danis.
Nevertheless, if there is enough of a demand to make it happen, then an MMA bout could materialize in the future. After all, the KSI vs. Tommy Fury bout which had the Paul-Danis fight on as the co-main event, sold $1.3 million pay-per-views.
