Naoya Inoue Vs. Marlon Tapales Pre-Fight Predictions

On Tuesday, Naoya Inoue and Marlon Tapales face off in their undisputed super bantamweight clash.
‘The Monster’ is undefeated, with a 25-0 record of 22 knockouts. His debut at super bantamweight resulted in a knockout of Stephen Fulton. The win made Inoue a four-division champion and the new WBO and WBC title holder. A victory over Tapales puts himself alongside Terence Crawford as the only other person to be undisputed in a second weight class in the four-belt era.
Inoue-Tapales
Tapales is the current IBF and WBA champion. He defeated Murodjon Akhmadaliev in his last fight to secure the titles. Tapales will have to beat Inoue in his backyard and give him the first defeat of his career if he is to come out victorious. The pressure is off Tapales. There is already a talk of how high can Inoue go up in weight.
That could be a distraction since the Japanese has even been linked with a Gervonta Davis fight. That may play into Tapales’s hands if Inoue overlooks him. Inoue is the favourite coming into the fight. Tapales is dangerous since he has what it takes at the world level. With that being said, here are the pre-fight predictions.
Predictions
“Marlin is known for his never give up attitude, despite the tall odds. He fights in any given situation; he adjusts and never fears. [And] he will be coming for the monster. Marlone has been in Japan four times in his career; he is also 4 and 0, and he’s going to be five an 0 in Japan when he beats Inoue,” Shawn Gibbons
“I feel like Inoue is going to win. [And] I expect him to beat Tapales. I feel like he could beat the featherweights. If I was him, that’s what I’d be doing. But my shot is going to come, and I just have to keep winning until then. I genuinely believe it’s going to come,” Liam Davies
“He [Tapales] really looked great and his condition was every inch better when he was training here. Marlon’s speed is going to be a plus factor, his great experience as well. “Inoue can’t count Marlon out. It’s going to be a great fight,” Jerwin Ancajas
“It’s going to be a good fight. They are both very good fighters. When Tapales did the stick and move vs MJ it worked. Now does MJ has Inoue’s power? I don’t think so. But definitely I won’t miss this one,” Luis Alberto Lopez
“Last time Inoue fought, I didn’t really have time to pay attention to what he was doing. I was so focused on my opponent. I will definitely pay attention to this fight. It’s for all of the titles (at junior featherweight) between two champions. I will be tuned in but as a fan of the sport. I’m not even thinking about how it will impact my career,” Robeisy Ramirez
