Munguia Vs. Ryder: Where To Watch Info
Jamie Munguia and John Ryder square off in a highly-anticipated super middleweight clash today, live on DAZN.
Munguia is confident heading into the fight, promising to knockout Ryder. That would be some statement given that Ryder had gone the distance with Canelo Alvarez in Mexico. Munguia’s boxing record shows that he can hold it with the best of them. He is 42-0, which includes 33 knockouts. His last two wins were over Gonzalo Gaston Coria and Sergiy Derevyanchenko, both at 168.
Ryder will be looking to prove his doubters wrong. Following the loss to Alvarez, there were question marks over whether he could secure another big fight. But he does have a win over Daniel Jacobs, showing he can compete at world level. He was also hard done by when losing a decision to Callum Smith. But to get the win, he will have to dethrone Munguia in his backyard. Here is everything you need to know about the fight.
Pre-Fight Comments
“Munguia’s obviously coming to use me as a steppingstone. I’ve got other plans. I want to make a statement. And, listen, I want to get my career back to the heights it needs to be, starting with Jaime Munguia. So, go in there, make a statement and hopefully get a rematch with Canelo. I think if you can take the positives from the Canelo fight, I’ve stayed in there, I’ve dug deep and I’ve learned a lot of what Canelo does. Munguia’s a completely different fighter. He’s very much a volume puncher, whereas Canelo is very compact, tight, doesn’t waste nothing. But Jaime Munguia will come at you and throw punches all day,” Ryder said
“He [Munguia] has that championship pedigree. He’s an incredible talent. He has all the experience in the world, and now it’s time to step it up. Now it’s time to move on to the championship-caliber fights and challenge the very best. And we start this Saturday, here at the Footprint Center in Arizona,” De La Hoya stated
