MMA Fighters Predict Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry
Jake Paul takes on Mike Perry on July 20, leaving fans wondering who will win.
Paul arrives into the fight as the massive favorite. His boxing experience is far more extensive. He has faced three pro boxers in his career. His first loss came against Tommy Fury, but since then, he has beaten Andre August and Ryan Bourland. While August and Bourland are not the biggest names, they are still pro boxers, showing some progression. Paul’s current record is 9-1, with six knockouts. However, he cannot afford to overlook Perry.
Perry was a late replacement after Mike Tyson pulled out with an inflamed ulcer. Paul may have one eye on the Tyson fight, which has now been pushed back until November 15. There is also suggestions that Paul could face Perry in MMA for a rematch as part of his PFL debut, although Mike favors a bareknuckle fight.
Perry has nothing to lose as he will likely secure the biggest purse of his career. His sole boxing fight was a 2015 KO loss to Kenneth McNeil. But his confidence will be high, having established himself as the leading name in BKFC. He is undefeated with a 5-0 record, as he seeks to pull off a massive upset. Here were the predictions from some MMA fighters.
Paul vs. Perry
“You know, I actually have to for the first time. I think I rate Jake Paul for the decision, because it’s a tough fight. You know, I’ve been in there with him, myself, very different, but he’s just a hard person to kill, and he’s a person that will keep coming forward.
“So I think depending on how long, how many rounds there are, it’s a tough fight for Jake Paul. And we know Jake Paul has power, but I think his power is in, you know, the first three rounds after that, if he doesn’t get Perry out, which I don’t believe he will, within the first three he’s going to probably lose, lose that fight,” Michael Page
“You know, I’m actually a big fan of Mike Perry. I’m so happy for his success, and I hope he gets a bag with this one. But again, you know, Jake, Paul, you’re fighting a welterweight, and maybe if it’s bare knuckle, that’d be cooler. But like, you know, it’s like, it’s like me challenging a soccer player to an MMA fight, like it’s, it just ain’t the same, dude…I’m very happy for Perry. I’m happy for your success, bro. Keep making that money,” Sean Strickland
Further Predictions
“I wish it was bare knuckle. I feel like that’s Mike Perry’s sport. So I would like, part of me wants him to just take his gloves off halfway through and throw down. But I think he has a better chance than a lot of the MMA people who fought Jake Paul. So we’ll see what happens. I haven’t really been studying Jake Paul. I’ve watched all of Mike Perry’s fights, and he just looks better every time he gets in there and bare knuckles. So hopefully those skills transfer over to boxing with gloves,” Angela Hill
“I don’t know. Man, I mean, you know Mike Perry’s very he’s a dog. He’s very tough. He can take some shots and keep on going. That’s like his realm. So we’ll see. Man, I know, I know Jake Paul is a bigger opponent. So but, but, you know, Mike Perry doesn’t, doesn’t mind fighting the bigger guys. I think he’s going to try to get in Jake Paul’s face, try to try to dirty, box him and win that way. But we’ll see. I mean, no idea, no idea he’s going to win that fight,” Stephen Thompson
Final Thoughts
“You know, I think that Mike Perry is he’s a wild card. [And] you never know, so I never count him out. You know, he might be able to do all right, I think he’s gonna go in there and get it. So who else we’ll see?” Holly Holm
“One for the good guys, Mike Perry, go get the job done. How do you think it’s gonna unfold with those two? Oh, I have no idea, but I hope Mike Perry gets the job done,” Kevin Holland
“I wish it were me boxing Jake Paul instead. But yeah, congrats to him. Big fight, good fight. Hopefully he goes and knocks his lights out,” Khalil Rountree
