Mike Tyson Tells Fury How To Beat Usyk
Mike Tyson has given Tyson Fury advice on how to beat Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch.
Usyk won the first fight via a split decision to become the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the Word. While the scorecards had it close, in truth, Usyk was the far better fighter. He dominated the beginning and the back end of the fight, while Fury’s success came in the middle rounds. Usyk was prevented from getting a knockout in round nine as the referee intervened by imposing a standing eight count.
After the loss, Fury refused to accept the loss. In his post-fight interview, he claimed that Usyk only got the win because Ukraine was at war with Russia. Even after watching the fight back, Fury said he believed he won. He referred to Usyk as an amateur boxer. However, the evidence shows Fury was struggling with his first defeat.
Tyson Reacts
He was seen getting thrown out of a bar in his hometown while he was drunk. But Tyson has now called on Fury to focus on getting the win. Mike understands what it takes to prepare for Fury since he helped Francis Ngannou take him on. While Fury won the fight via a split decision, Ngannou gave Fury a tough test. He dropped Fury in round three and lasted the distance. Some felt Ngannou had been robbed of a win. Given what Mike knows about Tyson, he urged Fury to leave no stone unturned.
“Take it serious,” Mike Tyson said
The problem Fury faces is that there are question marks over his mentality. His brother, Shane Fury, wants to see his brother retire from the sport regardless of the result. Meanwhile, Fury will make over $100 million for the two Usyk fights. That has set him up for generational wealth, meaning Fury’s motivation may not be there.
Fury After Boxing
He can no longer face Usyk for undisputed since the Ukrainian vacated his IBF belt. Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois will fight for the title, meaning Fury must beat Usyk to get to that fight. Fury has shown that he struggles to keep himself motivated in between camps. But he has plans for life after boxing. He clearly said he would not leave his money for his kids as he focused on them making their way in life.
“I want my kids to get their own money, do their own things and be their own people. I don’t believe in just giving all your money to your kids but it will make them weak, spoiled and not value anything, worthless. They’ll end up getting to 35 and never having done anything for themselves, apart from spending dad’s money. They’ll be middle-aged looking in the mirror and being disappointed. If I buy my son a Lamborghini as soon as he passes his test, he’ll probably kill himself in it. But he also wouldn’t appreciate it,” Fury stated
Fury knows the Usyk rematch is the biggest of his career. If he suffers another loss, the calls on him to retire will only increase.
