Mike Tyson has doubled down on his commitment to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2026, dismissing recent rumors of a cancellation.

The 59-year-old addressed the growing uncertainty surrounding the event, as Mayweather navigates a $340 million lawsuit against Showtime Sports and Stephen Espinoza. The bout, first announced in September 2025, is being organized by CSI Sports and Fight Sports. While an official date and venue have yet to be finalized, several key details have emerged: The exhibition is currently targeted for Spring 2026. Tyson has repeatedly hinted at Africa.

“When CSI came to me about stepping in the ring with Floyd Mayweather. I thought, ‘No way this happens,’ but, Floyd said yes. This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen. However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable — and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets. I still can’t believe Floyd wants to really do this. It’s going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it’s signed and it’s happening,” Tyson said

Tyson Reacts

“I’ve been doing this for 30 years and there hasn’t been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy,” said Mayweather. “You already know that if I am going to do something, it’s going to be big and it’s going to be legendary. I’m the best in the business of boxing. This exhibition will give the fans what they want,” Mayweather stated

Despite the worries, Tyson reassured fans that the fight will happen.

“Yeah, it’s happening. S___, yeah, it’s happening! You think I’d give that up?! I was minding my business! He challenged me. We gon’ party afterwards, baby! We’ll have a ball afterwards. I feel incredible. Listen I was an extra large [pulls at t-shirt] but we are a large now,” Tyson said
