Mike Tyson would be willing to train Francis Ngannou for his fight with Tyson Fury

The former UFC heavyweight champion makes his boxing debut on October 28th, 2023.

The overwhelming consensus is that Fury will be too skilful and powerful for Ngannou who has never boxed.

Therefore, it is only wise that the MMA star puts himself in the best position to come out victorious.

After all, Conor McGregor did something similar when he faced Floyd Mayweather Jr. The ‘Notorious’ hired the services of Paulie Malignaggi to help him prepare for Mayweather.

The ‘Magic Man’ was a former world champion, despite not having the physical advantages that many other fighters had.

However, Malignaggi’s high IQ ultimately took him to a world title, as it was hoped that his experience would rub off on McGregor.

Despite the eventual fall out that emerged, Ngannou is looking to do something similar by working with Mike Tyson.

“I think getting some advice or some training from Mike Tyson would be good. I also think of somebody like Lennox Lewis who could be good.

“I love his boxing style, very basic but very sharp and efficient. One-two [punches], all that stuff, classic but very good,” Ngannou

Tyson may not have the qualifications of being a trainer, but his pedigree speaks for itself.

The boxing legend is a former undisputed heavyweight champion, showing that he has reached the pinnacle of the sport.

And this is something that Fury has not managed to achieve. Although there is still a chance that this could happen if he faces Oleksandr Uysk, for now ‘Iron Mike’ has that acclaim. But when it came to helping Ngannou, Mike Tyson was all for it.

“I’d like to do that, that’d be cool. I’d like that, yeah. I’d like that. Fury, he punches long. So, when he punches long, you got those short punches inside. When he throws around, watch—you gotta be ready. Boom, hard punch to the body,” Tyson

Regardless of whether or not Mike Tyson gets on board, ultimately, Ngannou will have to figure a way out of beating the WBC heavyweight champion. And there is no getting away from that.
