Mike Perry Beats Up Jake Paul’s Mascot; Security Separates Him
Mike Perry punched Jake Paul’s mascot during the open workout for their July 20 fight.
Perry seeks to cause a major upset. He is 5-0 in BKFC but has only had one boxing fight, which took place in 2015. He was knocked out by Kenneth McNeil in the last round of the fight. Perry stepped in to fight Paul once Mike Tyson withdrew from the card. Tyson pulled out with an inflamed ulcer, and he will fight Paul on November 15. That all depends on Paul coming through this fight. As for Paul, he is on a three-fight win streak.
Perry Attacks
Wins over Nate Diaz, Andre August and Ryan Bourland were the exact response needed following his first loss against Tommy Fury. Paul has set his sights on his PFL debut, which could be against Perry. But he cannot afford to overlook his man. Perry was in a confident mood as he strolled around the ring. The following clip shows him landing several combinations on Paul’s mascot, who was advertising some of Jake’s products. ‘W’ is Paul’s body care line, which includes deodorants and body wash. As Perry let fly with combinations, security separated him.
While Perry may feel confident, not everyone has given him a good chance of winning. Eddie Hearn has made it clear that Perry is unlikely to win. Perry’s skills in BKFC will be negated by using boxing gloves, taking away the power he usually would have had. Paul also has more experience, having a 9-1 record. This includes six knockout wins. He has several wins over MMA fighters, beating Ben Askren, Tyrone Woodley, Anderson Silva and Diaz.
Who Wins?
Paul is also seen as the A-side, meaning it is difficult to see Perry win on the cards. He will have to secure a knockout to do that. But in doing so, he will leave himself open, having previously been stopped in his only boxing bout. Hearn was clear that Perry’s only chance of winning would be to use illegal tactics by breaking his legs, showing the magnitude of the task. That extra weight could be telling in the fight since Paul has been bulking up to face Tyson at heavyweight.
“(Perry’s only chance is to) break his legs. Mike Perry is a welterweight that I think was in the UFC at middleweight, and the fight is at 200 pounds. He has absolutely no chance. And by the way, Mike Perry, I’m sure, is a really tough guy, and at 160-170 pounds, he’s probably a right handful.
“But you can’t give 30 pounds away. Jake’s not great, but he’s a big lump, and he’s strong and he can punch a little bit, as well. I think he’ll stop Mike Perry. The Jake Paul machine works when he’s in a big fight. There’s some interest in Mike Perry, and if the Mike Tyson fight does happen – which I don’t think it will – I’m sure that will do big numbers,” Hearn said
