Michael Chandler Teases His Next Fight – ‘See You At The Top’
Michael Chandler has hinted that his next fight will be announced soon as fans wait for his next steps.
Chandler has been linked with the Conor McGregor fight for a prolonged period. Their rivalry began on the TUF 31 series, where they butted heads as rival coaches. Chandler won the team challenge, as his fighters dominated the series. However, got his own back on the coach’s challenge with a win. They finally agreed to fight each other at UFC 303, which was meant for June 29.
However, The Notorious suffered a broken toe, meaning the fight was called off. It is not clear if the fight will happen this year. Dana White initially ruled it out; however, following a McGregor post on social media, the CEO of the UFC did not rule it out. Chandler has arguably wasted the best moments of his career by waiting for this fight.
Sonnen Reacts
He has not had a UFC fight since losing to Poirier at UFC 281 in 2022. He had been offered the Islam Makhachev fight, which would have been for the UFC Lightweight Title. Elsewhere, he fired verbal shots against Dustin Poirier on social media, which could have built the narrative for a fight. Chandler has been warned by others to move on, given that he is now 38 years old.
“By the end of the year, Michael Chandler will finally assume his new role as a weatherman. I feel that’s what he’s prepping for. Picture what he’s asking for. He’s asking for a fight with Conor McGregor. That simply can’t happen, but he’s staying on, right?
“He’s staying noble. He’s staying dependent. “Picture Michael Chandler wearing rain gear, OK? I’m talking about the yellow jacket. The hood is up, he’s got a microphone, he’s broadcasting a potential storm coming while he’s standing in the middle of the Sahara desert, because that is as much opportunity as he’s going to have to fight Conor McGregor. He’s got to move on,” Sonnen said
Now, Chandler has hinted at some upcoming news.

“Wheels in motion to bite down on that mouthpiece again… Bet on yourself, always. Walk On. See you at the top,” Chandler stated
A McGregor-Chandler fight was being mentioned for December at UFC 310. However, reports indicate that Islam Makhachev vs. Arman Tsarukyan could take place on that card. It would be Islam’s fourth defense of his UFC Lightweight Title and a rematch of their 2019 clash that Makhachev won via a unanimous decision. Sonnen has indicated that McGregor-Chandler could happen in that month or January next year.
“Well, I think Conor is sincere that he would like to fight [at] 170 pounds [at the] T-Mobile Arena [in] December 2024 opposite Michael Chandler under the unified rules of the mixed martial arts. I believe him. [And] I don’t think that’s a ploy for attention. I believe an inside scoop that I’m getting that the UFC wants all of those same things – they just want it in January in California,” Sonnen revealed
