Merab Dvalishvili Cuts Himself, Dana White Reacts – ‘He Posted It, So Dumb, Stupid’
Merab Dvalishvili has posted a video showing he has cut himself ahead of his fight against Sean O’Malley.
The pair face off on September 14 at The Sphere in Las Vegas as the venue holds the first-ever combat sports event. O’Malley is the UFC Bantamweight Champion, making the second defence of his title. He defeated Marlon Vera in his previous fight at UFC 299.
Meanwhile, Merab has ten wins in a row as his confidence in his fight. He defeated Henry Cejudo at UFC 298 in his last fight. He has already caused controversy when he jumped over a barrier to pull the hair of a heckler. While there is nothing to suggest that there will be any legal action as of now, O’Malley hinted that the fighter risks getting sued.
Merab’s Troubles
“Merab had a little freakout. This is what I heard: someone said ‘Suga’s your daddy!’ or something like that. So Merab climbs this three-foot fence, gets stuck damn near trying to get over, tries to jump over the other fence, and walks up there with his sassy hips and pulls his hair.
“That kid could sue him, 100 percent. You’re not allowed to physically touch someone else in public, that’s illegal…If that kid sued him, lawyer fees, lawyer this and lawyer that, it’s stressful. So if that kid decided to sue him right now, Merab might not make it to the fight…we’re in his head, so keep poking at him,” O’Malley stated
Merab has potentially given O’Malley an advantage by revealing he has a cut. The following video shows the cut as Merab gets some stitches.

White Reacts
Dvalishvili’s conduct did not sit well with Dana White. The CEO of the UFC hit out at the fighter for posting it on social media rather than keeping it quiet behind closed doors. This may create the narrative that Dvalishvili is looking for excuses ahead of the fight. If the result does not go his way and the cut opens up, there is a chance that he blames it on any such bad performance on it.
It also gives O’Malley an insight into how his opponent is doing. That will only increase O’Malley’s confidence. It may also give him an idea of how to approach the fight. There may be more focus on striking to target that cut. White felt that by sharing it, Merab only weakened his position.
“The whole world knows about Merab’s cut, he posted it. Our guys are so dumb, it’s next-level unbelievable. All the stuff that I talk about boxing, what I will give boxing, is when something happens in the camp, man, let me tell you what, it does not leak. And our guys can’t…wait to put it up on social media…It’s a small cut, no big deal, but obviously needed to be posted. And why the…[heck] would you want him to know that?” It is next-level stupid, some of these guys are so stupid it’s…mind-boggling, it’s unbelievable,” White said
