Christian Medina secured a unanimous decision win to retain his WBO Bantamweight Title in his hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico, against Adrian Curiel: 120-108, 116-112 and 115-113.

Medina set the tone in the first three rounds, utilizing his jab to set up left hooks to Curiel’s ribs and overhand rights to the head. The challenger, though, found his rhythm in the middle rounds, finding success with uppercuts during the exchanges. In the eighth, Curiel landed a right to the chin, but Medina’s chin allowed him to counter immediately.

Any hope for a Curiel comeback was extinguished in the ninth, as Medina trapped him against the ropes with a massive right hand. Over the final three rounds, the champion remained composed in the pocket, out-working a visibly exhausted Curiel to the final bell.
