McGregor’s Training Footage Sparks Controversy

Conor McGregor sparked controversy with his latest training footage showing him working hard in the gym.
McGregor’s UFC career is at a critical stage following his recent controversy. He was found liable for sexually assaulting Nikita Hand in a civil lawsuit. He was ordered to pay her around $258,000 while also paying her legal fees, which were roughly $158,000. That cast doubts over whether the Irishman will ever fight in the UFC again. The Notorious still has two fights left on his UFC deal. He has not been in the Octagon since losing to Dustin Poirier in 2021. That was the third loss out of his last four bouts.
He also broke his leg, something which can end careers. He pulled out of his UFC 303 fight with Michael Chandler due to a broken toe. Meanwhile, he is unlikely to fight Dan Hooker on February 1 in Saudi Arabia. That has raised doubts about his UFC return. McGregor is still financially secure despite his recent financial hits. In response to the lawsuit, the Hitman video game franchise cut ties with him. The Proper No.12 Irish Whiskey brand also removed him from their marketing.
Irish airports in Cork and Dublin have also reacted by saying they will not stock his alcohol. That could increase the pressure on McGregor to return to fighting. The following clip shows that he has not lost his love for the sport. He can be seen using his knee before getting his sparring partner into an arm bar. McGregor gave fans an insight into what he was working on.
McGregor’s Training
“Partner went for x-guard, but without control of my back leg, I can, with good balance and composure, step up and over into reverse knee on belly. I then slot my lead knee in blocking his hip fully while also securing control of both his wrists. I now have both my knees on my partner, who bares full weight on top of him, and no hands to fight. Very heavy.
“The position I am in also here, not your typical knee on belly, in that I am completely upright, allows me, in MMA, to have full torque for reigning down proper finishing blows vs any style of rabbit punching..(Referee, please stop the fight I’m hitting him can’t you see’ lol),” McGregor said
This is not anything out of the ordinary for McGregor. During his time out injured, he has posted various clips of him in training. But the gym is a completely different ball game compared to fighting. McGregor has not been active for over three years. Chris Weidman suffered a broken leg, and he has never been the same since.
McGregor is now 36, with questions over his discipline. He has been pictured on numerous occasions partying while also admitting his cocaine usage, which came out during the Hand lawsuit. That poses serious problems for McGregor, who is currently facing the biggest test of his career. Fans were vocal about McGregor’s training in light of his lawsuit.
