McGregor’s Return Is Close With A Possible Announcement At UFC 300 - The Mac Is Back'

Dana White has hinted at Conor McGregor’s return, leading to speculation that his next fight could be announced at UFC 300.

McGregor has been absent from the Octagon since 2021. He suffered a loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. This took his record to three defeats out of his last four. The Irishman also suffered a broken leg, raising question marks over his future.

McGregor has been linked with a fight against Michael Chandler, who has also not fought since his loss to Poirier in 2022. Both fighters recently confirmed that a fight was on for the summer. McGregor confirmed it was ‘all systems go,’ while Chandler had received confirmation. All that was left was for the UFC to make an announcement.

McGregor vs Chandler

“We got confirmation a few days ago that it’s all systems go. And ‘The Mac’, ‘The Notorious’ will be returning to the UFC Octagon this summer. I had [my training] camp in Dubai [months ago], I had a camp in Cannes. I was preparing, and then I was kind of getting nothing back. And then other things came up and I kind of dipped out. But now, it’s on. So, there’s no messing now. I cannot dip out now,” McGregor said

“I’ve got the official announcement. It’s happening this summer. I can’t tell you the actual date, but it’s happening this summer, yes. Me vs. Conor. Obviously, this has been a year in the making. We did The Ultimate Fighter, he’s been off obviously doing the Road House movie and all his other aspirations and accolades outside of the cage, so here we are, this summer, I’m ready.

“The official status is we have an agreement. We are fighting this summer. We’ll let the court of public opinion speculate on what the date is, but it’s definitely this summer. We’re giving you a window that we’re going to be fighting in. But yeah, it’s always been Conor and I,” Chandler stated

Dana White has indicated a return by posting the following clip of McGregor on his social media, stating ‘coming soon.’ McGregor also teased his return.

McGregor’s Return

Outside of the fight game, Conor McGregor has released his first movie. He acted alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in ‘Road House.’ The Notorious played a villain named Knox, who crosses paths with Gyllenhaal’s character Elwood Dalton. The movie was released on March 21 via Amazon Prime Video. It was a huge success, resulting in $50 million viewers globally in the first two weeks, a record for an Amazon MGM Studios release.

McGregor’s Acting

The groundbreaking, successful debut of Road House is a testament to the hard work and commitment from the entire Road House filmmaking team and the film’s cast led by the phenomenal Jake Gyllenhaal. The world is absolutely loving this entertaining, action-packed ride anchored by the performances of Jake.

“[And] Conor McGregor, Daniela Melchior, Darren Barnet, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, Lukas Gage, Arturo Castro, JD Pardo, and the rest of our stellar cast. It’s great to see the film taking off with both fans of the iconic original as well as a huge turnout from new audiences. This incredible film is really giving everyone something to talk about, and we couldn’t be more proud,” Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios, said

Since McGregor has committed his future to the fight game, he will hope to replicate more success in the Octagon on his return.
