McGregor's BKFC Debut Closer After Feldman Will Talk With The UFC

Conor McGregor’s BKFC debut could become closer after the organization’s president, Dave Feldman, said he would speak to the UFC.

McGregor is desperate to fight in BKFC. He indicated his intentions after the organization’s Knucklemania V event over last weekend. Jeremy Stephens knocked out Eddie Alvarez in the third round of the main event. McGregor entered the ring to face off against Stephens, saying he wanted him next. Stephens also said in his post-fight comments that he wants to make the fight, calling it easy money. The problem facing McGregor is that he still has two fights left on his UFC deal.

He has not had a UFC fight since 2021, when Dustin Poirier stopped him at UFC 264. That took his recent record to three defeats out of his last four UFC fights. He also pulled out of his comeback fight against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29 last year with a broken toe. Since then, McGregor has faced legal issues outside of the octagon. Nikita Hand sued him successfully in a civil lawsuit, accusing him of a sexual assault. McGregor is also facing another case on similar issues after an alleged incident following an NBA Finals game in 2023.

But McGregor is desperate to return to fighting after recent reports that he could box Logan Paul in an exhibition in India died down. There was talk that each fighter could earn $250 million. While McGregor is still keen on that fight, Logan is allegedly set to face his brother Jake Paul in a fight in March. However, McGregor is a part-owner of BKFC, giving the organization every reason to have him fight under the promotion.

Feldman On McGregor

BKFC is also experiencing several positive indicators that show it is growing. They will hold a tournament this year, and the winner will earn $25 million. There is also the chance that the prize money could increase to $100 million if there is enough demand to see it. And Feldman expects an answer from the UFC as soon as he will reache out to them over McGregor fighting.

“Any time you get those kinds of moments it’s awesome, but I can’t do [a McGregor vs. Stephens fight] unless the UFC wanted to do something with us. They don’t need us for anything, but maybe they would, right? Other than that it doesn’t happen. “We’re growing at a really great pace right now — not that they’re concerned about us. They’re not. If something like [a McGregor fight] happens, it just moves us up five or 10 more pegs.

“I don’t think that they want to help us grow, and I think that helps us grow tremendously, but who knows? It is worth a shot. Maybe we’ll take that shot in the next week or two. He wants it. [And] he says ‘I have two fights left and then we’re going to do it, I’m definitely fighting here.’ [And] he says it all the time. He did tell me to make the date [for the Stephens fight]. Obviously there’s a lot that would go into making that date, but wow,” Feldman said
