McGregor Wants To Fight Gaethje And Then Diaz In A Trilogy

Conor McGregor has opened up on his plans for the UFC moving forward.

The ‘Notorious’ has not fought since his loss to Dustin Poirier in 2021 which resulted in a broken leg.

Although that may have been the case, McGregor’s current status is somewhat of a mystery.

Despite having undergone an extensive period of rehabilitation, the Irishman does not appear to be making a comeback anytime soon.

He had been linked with a fight against Michael Chandler this year, as the duo square off as coaches of TUF 31. However, McGregor’s failure to enroll in USADA has held things up.

And yet, Conor now appears to be targeting a fight with Justin Gaethje. Following the latter’s win over Poirier at UFC 291 to get the ‘BMF’ title, McGregor vowed to ‘slap’ Gaethje around the cage.

In response, Gaethje tweeted McGregor to ‘sign the contract.’ And now it appears that this is what McGregor intends on doing.

However, Diaz has other things to worry about as he must overcome Jake Paul on August 5th, 2023, in his pro-boxing debut.

But once the bout is done, Diaz could return to the UFC as he has not hidden his desire to make a return. And if that did happen, then a mega trilogy could be on its way.

However, one man who has questioned Conor’s comeback is Charles Oliveira. The latter is set to face Islam Makhachev on October 24th, 2023, at UFC 294.

And given that Oliveira is fighting for the lightweight belt, the Brazilian understands what it takes to be in a high-profile fight. Therefore, he responded to McGregor’s post about motivation in the most brutal of ways.

McGregor’s recent record is hardly anything to write home out. Three defeats out of his last four fights have dampened what has otherwise been a memorable career.

And if McGregor wants to be remembered as a great, a comeback may be needed to prove the doubters wrong. That is why the ‘Notorious’ has a lot of people he must win over.
