In some latest boxing and MMA news, Conor McGregor could end up facing Jake Paul later down the line.
That is according to the Irishman’s manager Audie Attar. The duo have constantly been linked with a fight in the boxing ring ever since Paul decided to turn professional.
While that may have been the case, the attempts at getting the fight made have not proved successful. Paul claimed that a reported $50 million offer had been made in order to get a boxing bout.
Paul On McGregor
“If I was Conor, he should have taken the $50 million that I offered him to fight an ‘easier fight. He took $10 million [and] something on the back end for the UFC event against Dustin but he lost. So why not take $50 million to fight a YouTuber? That’s what he should have done quite frankly.. Now he has to fight his way back. That’s the most embarrassing loss [against Poirier] of his career. Knocked out, TKO’d. But he should have taken the Jake Paul fight. More money, more hype,” ” Paul revealed
However, that failed to materialize into an agreement as both fighters went their separate ways. Paul’s stock has been increasing despite his first loss against a professional boxer in the form of Tommy Fury, as a win over Nate Diaz followed.
Meanwhile, McGregor has been out of the cage since his loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 due to a leg injury. However, the Notorious has now enrolled in USADA with plans on a comeback to the octagon in 2024. As such, Attar did not rule out a fight between McGregor and Paul in either the octagon or boxing ring later down the line.

“I think the challenge with combat sports is looking that far ahead. You never say never. Getting back into the octagon is step one, going in and handling business there. Then, not looking past that, but then, obviously, when you get past that, look at your options and see what’s next,” Attar stated
Paul has shown his willingness to fight Nate Diaz in MMA after having made him an offer of $10 million to fight under the PFL.
And yet, Diaz did show a reluctance to fight given that he preferred to do a rematch in boxing before even considering an MMA bout at all.
“Nate Diaz ducked the $10 million offer, so he’s not the bada** that everyone said he was. I wanted to fight him in MMA and do something that no boxer has really ever done, which is, in the prime of their career, go over to MMA. MMA fighters have gone over to boxing, but I want to go over to MMA and Nate Diaz ducked the offer,” Paul stated
However, when it comes to McGregor, he has fought under MMA and boxing rules. That could be enough to get the deal over the line, given both fighters’ ability to crossover. So watch this space.
