McGregor Threatens To ‘Slap The Nose’ Of Topuria
Conor McGregor has hit out at UFC Featherweight Champion Ilia Topuria.
McGregor’s comments come after Topuria said he is not interested in facing McGregor in a fight. The UFC Featherweight Champion is coming off the biggest win of his career, knocking out Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298 to maintain his undefeated record. The win ended Volkanovski’s four-year reign as champion, as it was his first stoppage defeat in the weight class.
The victory propelled Topuria to become a bigger star, as he will now defend his title against the BMF Champion Max Holloway. They face off at UFC 308 in a battle to decide who is the best. Topuria has been linked with the McGregor fight, with both exchanging verbals throughout the years on social media.
There were suggestions that Topuria would be interested in facing the Irishman in a sold-out fight at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu stadium. However, Topuria has now stated that he has no interest in taking that fight. He felt that McGregor was no longer the same fighter who became a two-weight UFC champion. The Irishman has not fought since losing to Dustin Poirier in 2021 when he came up short at UFC 264.
Topuria Reacts
He suffered a broken leg as the defeat was his third out of his four previous UFC bouts. While McGregor was scheduled to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29, he ultimately pulled out with a broken toe. Dana White has already stated that he will fight at some point next year, as McGregor has two fights left on his UFC deal. But with no guarantee over whether McGregor will make it into the Octagon, Topuria has stated that there are other big fights out there for him. That is his focus moving forward.
“I wouldn’t like to fight McGregor. I mean, McGregor would be an option if I could fight him. But, right now, I’m telling you, that if they offered me a fight with him I’d say no because there are bigger fights than him… I know he is not what it he was. He’s not that McGregor who moved the masses. He’s a McGregor who represents alcohol and drugs more than sport. I have been inspired by Conor. I admired him when I was little. And, he lost it because he has betrayed the values that brought him to the top. We have lost an idol,” Topuria said
McGregor Responds
Nevertheless, McGregor did not take that very well. The Notorious responded by stating that he would overpower the champion. He also urged Topuria to meet him face to face, stating that he would be at a BKFC event on October 12. He warned Topuria that he would beat him if they ever crossed paths.
“How do you think you’d beat Ilia Topuria? I’d grab him by the scruff of the chest and slap the little nose off of him. Little ding dong of a thing he is. I’m in Marbella at the Bare Knuckle, we’ll see what’s what. You little fool, I’ll cave ya head in. Ya little short…tick, I’ll box your jaw in on sight, I’m in Marbella, Spain, Oct. 12 at the bare knuckle. See what happens, see what happens when you come across me,” McGregor stated
