McGregor Teases A Big Announcement – ‘Is Khabib Coming Back?’
Conor McGregor has teased a massive announcement as he prepares to take on Michael Chandler at UFC 303.
The Notorious returns following his 2021 loss against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. The defeat was accompanied by a broken leg as serious questions remain about whether he can return to his best. The UFC has already announced that the live gate for the event is over $20 million, a UFC record.
It shows McGregor’s popularity is still growing. The Irishman has been dabbling in numerous ventures since he has been out injured. He competed with Chandler on the TUF 31 series as two rival coaches, building up the fight’s hype. He also made his acting debut in Road House, starring alongside Jake Gyllenhaal. Now, the fighter has hinted at another major announcement.
McGregor Reacts
“The fans will love it, the people will love it, you’re in for a treat. Dana [White] loved [the idea], pitched it to me, I double loved it. And here we go, we’re about to announce it soon for the fans. We have a huge announcement coming regarding traveling the globe. An event that will take place prior to June 29th, between myself and my opponent. You guys are gonna love it, and I’m gonna love it also,” McGregor said
That has gotten fans speculating over what it could be. There are suggestions that McGregor and Chandler could have a global media tour. It would be the first time that McGregor has done such a thing since the Jose Aldo fight. McGregor ultimately delivered in that fight, stopping Aldo in the first round to become the UFC Featherweight Champion. Meanwhile, others have suggested Khabib Nurmagomedov could return. This was after suggestions Khabib underpaid taxes to the Russian government, amounting to $3 million. Although Khabib’s team has denied this, it has not stopped fans from speculating. McGregor may be known for his trash talk, but he has promised to tone it down this time.
McGregor’s Approach
“I’m ready to go. I’m calm, I’m composed, and I’m cold in the soul for this man. This whole thing, I’m coming back with a vengeance and I’m coming back with skill. I’m excited to show my skills, my man. Yeah, I’m in a great place mentally, physically, and spiritually. Five weeks, five days time, we’re back on the horse. Giddy up. Yeah, I don’t think I’ll go to that level [of trash talk] again.
“It doesn’t serve a purpose, and it doesn’t serve me well. You know, like, you remain cold to the situation. You remain emotionless. It’s a blank face and a specific body type. He has his set movements, his set patterns he moves in, and his set shots and I’m aware of them. I’m preparing for a multitude of outcomes and just getting myself ready as I can be.” Conor McGregor concluded. “[But], I’m confident that all my shots will land,” McGregor stated
