McGregor Taunts Chandler With Diss Video
Conor McGregor has taunted Michael Chandler, forcing the latter to respond.
Their rivalry has existed since their days as rival coaches on the TUF 31 series. Chandler won the team challenge, while McGregor got his revenge on the coach’s challenge. They finally agreed to fight each other on June 29 at UFC 303. However, McGregor pulled out after suffering a broken toe. That has left fans waiting to see McGregor, who has not had a UFC fight since losing to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021.
There have been calls for Chandler to move on. He was offered a title fight against Islam Makhachev while also being linked with a fight against Dustin Poirier. But the demand to see that fight has been there.
The tickets for the press conference sold out in just nine minutes. Meanwhile, the McGregor-Chandler fight set a live gate record of over $20 million. The fight may have been called off, but it is now expected to happen at the back end of the year. The timing near Christmas makes the fight even bigger, setting the potential for a blockbuster event.
And both appear focused on doing that fight. The following video shows McGregor on a boat while grinning towards the camera. McGregor then switches his hat to the one that says ‘champ champ.’ The song ‘A Change is Gonna Come’ can be heard playing in the background. Chandler responded to the video.
McGregor vs. Chandler
The problem that both fighters face is the lack of activity. Like McGregor, Chandler has not been in a UFC fight since his loss to Poirier at UFC 281. He could have taken fights in between but chose not to pursue the McGregor fight. While he will earn more money with the McGregor fight, it will damage any legacy he could have built.
McGregor is 35, while Chandler is 38. McGregor has previously said he has eyes on moving to BKFC once his UFC career is over. The Notorious even hinted at the idea that he could pursue a fight with Max Holloway, the BMF Champion, instead. Blessed’s stock has risen massively since his KO win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 300. He stopped Gaethje with just a second left to go in the fight.
“? lol ok lil bro. Swapped out handy. @BlessedMMA what you at December? The real BMF, you know,” McGregor revealed
Chandler could end up waiting and never getting the McGregor fight. Chandler himself has acknowledged that a time has to come where he moves on from the fight.
